Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 October 2017 Verified Purchase Purchased this to use as an adult. Reason being that I usually take the 2000IU but that isn't stocked any longer so decided to order this to use for a few days whilst waiting for the adult drops from another company. Running out of the D drops, I missed the positive effects so something was better than nothing. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 December 2020 Verified Purchase I started giving this to my baby and he was sick after every feed, a lot! Then I realized it only started when he began these drops. I didn't notice if the seal was broken when I got it but the bottle was half full. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 April 2017 Verified Purchase I was pleased to find a vitamin D preparation which can give the full dose recommended by Public Health England in a single drop to babies of all ages. Most other preparations have age limits and multiple drops which are annoying to dose, and mean it's impractical to try and put them on the breast before a feed. My daughter is always happy to take the drop on a spoon, or I'm sure it would be fine to drop it onto the breast before a feed too. Because the bottle lasts for so long, this is the cheapest way to get vitamin D for babies as far as I can see. The dropping mechanism does sometimes seem a bit erratic with some collecting to the side as another reviewer mentioned. However, because you would need a ton of vitamin D before any possibility of overdose I'm not that bothered if it's a little inaccurate. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 June 2019 Verified Purchase One drop is all it takes to give your baby her daily dose of the very important vitamin D3. It's clear and tasteless so it is so easy to ensure she gets together whilst breastfeeding or just onto a clean finger into her mouth. I've used this on both of my children Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 November 2019 Verified Purchase Good value for money. Very useful for breastfed babies as you just need to put one drop on your nipple - win! Much better than other products where you need to try give them a whole dropper full! Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 July 2020 Verified Purchase Just received the item the seal is not broken but the bottle is half full. 3.0 out of 5 stars Half full bottle Just received the item the seal is not broken but the bottle is half full. Bear in mind that as an adult, I am used to taking a 2-3 drops of the 2000IU. An adult is said to absorb more than this from an hour of strong sunlight. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the little baby drops which I took only 800IU of, gave me a terrible migraine-like headache! I didn't think it could be, so tried again another day. Same experience. It was enough to put me off them completely. When the adult Carlson drops arrived (much higher dose), I resumed dosage with some trepidation - would I get the headache again? Was it some company wide change to the ingredients? I didn't. Just felt great to have it again. So what can explain this?
This is purely my experience and could conceivably be down to my own physiology but I would try the baby drop yourself before administering to a baby, just in the same way that you might taste a little of a baby's food to check it was ok first before feeding. Just in case.
Needles to say I put them in the bin especially after reading all the reviews. I bought the NHS Vitamin drops instead.
